Effective Writing Workshop
Learn how to make your writing more persuasive and to the point.
For anyone who produces briefings, bulletins or reports, for readers in your own organisation or the wider world: this workshop will get you writing with more authority and impact.
This workshop assumes that you're confident with grammar and punctuation, and focuses on the skills of effective writing. Its interactive, seminar-style learning includes exercises for you to practice on the day, and techniques you can use straight away. The workshop covers:
- what makes a clear style and how to develop one
- how to understand what readers need
- what to ask before you start to write
- what gives writing authority, and what can put readers off
- why a sound structure saves everyone's time, and how to plan one
- how to cut out waffle.
I can adapt the course content for your organisation, whether you need a half-day for two people or a full day for ten, and give feedback on your current writing projects. I come to you, so you have no additional venue, facilities or staff travel costs.

We gave Kate the brief that we wanted to improve business report-writing skills in the company. She shaped our requirements into more precise goals and delivered an excellent workshop that helped build a better understanding among staff of how they can work collaboratively to write concise, clear reports for our clients. Feedback was universally positive, and the only complaint was that they wanted more! We'll definitely work with Kate again.
