Who we are
With 10 years' experience as consultants in the not for profit sector, we're versatile thinkers who look beyond the obvious. We have backgrounds in communications management so we're realistic about what works, whether you're a local community group or a national charity.
We've put our heads together to help clients work through a huge range of communications challenges - everything from brainstorming sessions to award-winning publications. Take a look at our clients and our work to get a flavour of what we can do.
Moira McMillan
Now an independent consultant, Moira was internal communications manager at £100 million charity Mencap for five years. Here she steered the organisation's communication programme for constitutional change - for which they gained an IPR Sword of Excellence for internal communications. She was responsible for the development and launch of a new intranet, events for staff and members and accessible communications for people with a learning disability. Moira's unit also provided training and editing services for external organisations including the BBC and the Disability Rights Commission.
Previously Moira worked with RNIB, NCH and the NSPCC, in media communications, corporate fundraising and marketing, PR and campaigning. Before her move to the voluntary sector, Moira worked in commercial agencies managing a variety of accounts including Mulberry, Homebase and Lyons Tetley. Moira is a member of the CIPR and a parent governor of Dunraven secondary school.
Kate Wilkinson
Before
she became an independent consultant in 2000, Kate spent two years with INCLUDE
as communications manager, where she devised and implemented this growing charity's
first communications strategy. Responsible for marketing, press and relationships
with corporate sponsors, Kate also successfully promoted new research into exclusion
through conferences for education professionals.
Kate began her career in the private sector developing marketing and technical communications. Moving into the charity sector 15 years ago, Kate's experience ranges from consultation and primary research through to journalism and copywriting. Before joining INCLUDE, Kate was editor of a monthly magazine for voluntary sector managers at the National Council for Voluntary Organisations, and managed campaigning publications for Liberty and the Civil Liberties Trust. Kate is a former trustee of a women's refuge, and Chair of the Domestic Violence Intervention Project.
